"I believe that entrepreneurship can be learned, and that thanks to it, we can change the future together. It may sound grandiose, but when you see how high school students can come up with a functional business idea in just one day, you start to believe it too.” he says Tereza Pinďákova, lecturer of the program Start a business in high school!
We started the program in Ostrava Start a business while still in high school, which helps students understand how to turn their ideas into real businesses. The first workshops are already running in schools, and the energy the children put into it could power a small power plant.
Workshops are led by lecturers who have experience in business themselves
Behind the program is Jarka Korena, Tereza Pinďákova a Eliska Preckova, which guides students from problem identification, through idea creation to presentation in one day. The day culminates with a presentation show, where young entrepreneurs present their projects to the entire class. Fellow students and lecturers then give them feedback and tips on what could be improved.
“Even though it’s just a simulation, the energy, tension, and enthusiasm would put more than one real pitch in the pocket.” says Jarka and adds: “I have to say that I incredibly enjoy watching how open-minded and fresh ideas young people come with. Terka and Eliška agreed that we were surprised by how receptive they are to the problems of seniors, minorities, or the environment. We sense great empathy, courage, and a desire to change the world for the better from them.”
...who knows? Maybe some of these young people we will really see it on the startup scene someday. Because at Impact Hub we believe that entrepreneurship is not just about business. It's a way of looking at the world, finding solutions, and improving things around you. And that's why this program makes so much sense to us.
